Yesterday Bibio (facebook/soundcloud) released the first video from his new album Silver Wilkinson yesterday. I have posted this song on here already, but now there is a video for it, and I felt like it warranted being posted again. The video really reminds me of Chemical Brothers' video for 'Swoon' with the silhouette people and the feel of it all. I managed to 'find' a copy of the album Silver Wilkinson a couple days ago, and I've been listening to it quite a lot. In my opinion it's second to his album Ambivalence Avenue, but better than the rest.

What Is It?
It was a hot day... It's a hot night! You can tell that it's finally getting to be summer... I even saw ants inside today. Damn ants. So, this isn't the best crowd video, but it's def not the worst. I still can't figure out what this line is on the song though. I looked up the lyrics for this song and have seen several different versions...
"Baby it's alright, hey isolate your groove" - maxlyrics
"Baby it's alright, an ice-electric groove" - lyricsmania
"Baby it's alright, if I select your groove" - lyricswikia
"Baby it's alright, ?? electric groove" - lyricsfly (seems like they're in my boat)
My buddy Mars razzed me once for something something like "an isometric groove." Then I thought maybe it was "a nice electric groove." I don't know... what do you think it is? I wonder what Mars thinks it is if he knows so well enough to razz me for it.

Monstercat
My friend sent me the link for this track last night and I'm really digging it. 'Razor Sharp,' from Pegboard Nerds & Tristam, came out yesterday, following a short clip of it just a couple days ago. Pegboard Nerds (facebook, soundcloud) are a pretty new duo, one member, Michael Parsberg, hailing from Denmark, the other, Alexander Odden, from Norway. They have only one EP under their belt, which came out earlier this year. Tristam (facebook) is relatively new as well, but with three EPs dating back to 2011, and an LP, The Tristam Hipster Package, which came out last year. Both of these artists are on the Monstercat label (soundcloud, youtube), and I'll def have to check out each bands other music to see what each one is like on their own. I like being able to differentiate what parts of collaborations come from which act. At any rate, check out 'Razor Sharp' below, and check out the bands' facebook pages if you dig em, and the Monstercat youtube channel has tons of other good stuff on it too, like this awesome little mashup: 'Throttle.'

Reprogram the Programming
Really love this new track from Janelle Monáe, 'Q.U.E.E.N.' featuring Erykah Badu. It has a little bit of everything in it, some r&b, soul, a little bit of hip hop. Great all around song, and the art direction on the video is excellent. I love the dresses against the background, and the general black and white scheme over the whole thing. 'Q.U.E.E.N.' will be featured on Janelle's new album, The Electric Lady, her third album which a lot of people are calling one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. Monáe's last album, The ArchAndroid, came out in early 2010. At least fans didn't have to wait as long as they did for that album though; as her first album, The Audition came out 7 years before her sophomore album. If this song is any indication of the quality of the album, I'm sure we're in for a treat when it's released.

Pound that 40!
Yesterday my friend shared the facebook page for Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children Macnuggits and I listened to all the music on they had to offer on their soundcloud. The band has crude joke, absurdity, and all other kinds of humor in their lyrics. I shared it with a few friends and we all agree the band is pretty damn excellent, despite sounding like excrement. Check out this track, 'Life is Excellent' along with is ridiculous video! They have tons of music and seem to put on a great live show as far as I can tell from youtube videos, so be sure to check out some other stuff too. I really like this song 'Freaky Baby' too, a nice little rap song.

These Just In
The search is over today for people who have been tirelessly figuring out the puzzle that has surrounded the mysterious "Record Store Day Incident" involving Boards of Canada. Someone cracked the code today, and entered it at http://cosecha-transmisiones.com/ which http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ is forwarding to right now and found this video (unfortunately not really a song from them per say), followed by a link to Bleep, where Tomorrow's Harvest can be pre-ordered on vinyl or cd. Each release comes with a download code to obtain mp3's of the album as well. The new album is due out June 10th. I'm pretty stoked on this; it will be my first BoC vinyl I will own!
Also today, the wait isn't quite over for people who've been excited about the new Empire of the Sun album, Ice on the Dune, which is still due out in June, but EotS released a video today, for the track 'Alive.' As per the usual Empire of the Sun style video, it's super-epic // sci-fi // futuristic awesomeness. Definitely a nice fun video to tide us over until the album drops in a little over a month and a half! Check out 'Alive' below, and look out for the album June 14th.

Favorite of the Favorites.
Lately I've been really into this series of compilations called Late Night Tales. The Late Night Tales (previously known as Another Late Night) albums are compiled and mixed by different guest musicians who are asked "to compile an album of their favorite music that inspired them to make music their profession - their favorite of the favorites". With the exception of a few, each album contains a cover track performed by the artist/group who made the compilation/mix, and one spoken word track at the end of the disc. Almost all albums are named after the musicians/bands that compiled them except: Music for Pleasure which was mixed by Tom Findlay of Groove Armada, and Shrigley Forced To Speak With Others which is and entire album full of spoken word tracks by David Shrigley. Two spin off albums were also made, At the Movies, which is a compilation of songs from movies, and The Cover Versions, which features a selection of the cover songs that have been made throughout the course of the series. After Dark, another spin off is due out in May of 2013. A number of the musicians/bands/dj's that have worked on the series are pretty popular artists including,
Fila Brazillia - Zero 7 - Groove Armada - Nightmares on Wax - Jamiroquai - Four Tet - The Flaming Lips - Belle & Sebastian - Air - Nouvelle Vague - Fatboy Slim - Matt Helders (of the Arctic Monkeys) - Cinematic Orchestra - Snow Patrol - Trentemøller - MGMT - Metronomy
Groove Armada has curated two of the mixes, three if you count the one Tom Findlay did himself without the other half of the duo, Andy Cato. Belle & Sebastian have also mixed two of the Late Night Tales compilations. Late Night Tales are typically a chilled out, downtempo mix of jazz, electronic, soul, funk, and disco and each has a wide variety of musicians featured on them. So go ahead and check them out sometime. More information on the compilation series and info on upcoming releases can be found at the Late Night Tales website.

Purple
Tonight I was watching random videos on Vimeo, just kind of killing time and ran across this video from Hiatus for the track 'We Can Be Ghosts Now' featuring Shura. It's a great stop-motion video with a cute little love-storyline. The video tells the tale of two lovers separated by society. The track is from Hiatus' forthcoming sophomore album, Parklands, due out May 13th. Super stoked to have found this artist. I just snagged his 2010 album, Ghost Notes and I'm really enjoying it. Lots of downtempo/chillout/dubstep, looking forward to the new album!

Welcome to... ASTROLAB
Headed to a little warehouse rave/party tonight being held in celebration of my friend Karissa's birthday! I'm really excited about this event. The people putting the project together have been putting on amazing parties for a while and this time they're going all out. I've been watching as they post pictures on facebook of the decorating they are doing and everything they are putting into making the night amazing. It's super exciting! I'm looking forward to a night full of amazing music, good friends, and of course... dancing! Check below the party flyer for links to some of the musicians soundclouds/facebooks so you can check out their music!

Vampire Buscemi?
What is this? Seriously. I just don't know what to say. And there's a whole bunch of them. They're just so... awkward.
