One More Star (In the Sky)

The world lost a talented producer, singer, and disc jockey May 7th. Romanthony, an American himself, more popular across the pond than here in America, had 4 albums under his belt, and a slew of singles across several genres including house, hip-hop, and r&b. Of these, 'Let Me Show You Love' and 'Hold On' were my favorites.

(Born) Anthony Moore, owner and founder of Black Male Records has worked with a few other musicians of note. His work with the Netherlands trio of producers Kraak & Smaak resulted in a few tracks of note. Here is 'Built For Love' from their work together.

His most notable work for most though, was his work with the popular French duo Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, aka Daft Punk. Romanthony worked his magic for the vocals on the beloved 'Too Long' and 'One More Time' and is also credited as co-writer of these two popular tracks from Daft Punk's Discovery. In a 2001 Interview, de Homem-Christo speaking of Romanthony and Todd Edwards (who was featured on the track 'Face to Face' from the album Discovery) said:
"What's odd is that Romanthony and Todd Edwards are not big in the United States at all. Their music had a big effect on us. The sound of their productions — the compression, the sound of the kick drum and Romanthony's voice, the emotion and soul — is part of how we sound today. Because they mean something to us, it was much more important for us to work with them than with other big stars."

Producer Boys Noize tweeted this morning:
"Romanthony and me were working on such an amazing song together. he said it was the best song he had ever written."
I hope Boys Noize has enough to work with that he can finish the track and help keep Romanthony's legend in motion. Romanthony has left behind a large catalog of music for us to enjoy, but he will indeed be missed.
